Psyllids, lerps, aphids & whiteflies (Hemiptera, several families)

This category covers the Sternorrhyncha, one of the four suborders of the large order Hemiptera (bugs). It contains the Aphids (Aphidoidea) with 3 families and 169 species in Australia, most of which are introduced; the Jumping plant lice or Psyllids or Lerp insects (Psylloidea), very diverse with 6 families and over 400 species; and the Whiteflies (Aleyrodidae) with 119 species. The scale insects (Coccoidea), with 21 families and 854 species, are also classified here, but currently have their own category in NatureMapr.

The majority of Australian Psylloidea species - about 350 - are now classified in the families Aphalaridae and Triozidae.

I don't think there are any maple trees nearby although there could be some that i don't know about in people's gardens. I have a Liquidambar tree but as far as I can tell, while it looks similar, it is quite different. Looking at it again, this aphid does seem different to Periphyllus californiensis.

Body shape does not seem to fit with Periphllus californiensis - can you check whether you have any maples neear by and whether there are nymphs that look like those at https://influentialpoints.com/Gallery/Periphyllus_californiensis_Californian_maple_aphid.htm#:~:text=Periphyllus%20californiensis%20apterae%20(see%20first,head%2C%20pronotum%2C%20and%20siphunculi.

There are two spots defined on NatureMapr for this species Glycaspis brimblecombei and Glycaspis (Glycaspis) brimblecombei. I don't understand the mening of the genus being repeated in brackets but I know it is a common practice. The name in brackets causes problems when searching for this species because the search does not return that name. It only shows up when you only type in just the genus. Hmm...
